Hi Sonja, what is "cafe de paris" spice mixture? Is this sth. typically available in Germany - what would be the British equivalent? Cheers!

Sorry for the slow response...
Cafe de Paris spice mixture contains garlic, onions, curcuma, coriander, mustard seed, ginger, cumin and a number of further spices. When used in small doses, I think it is a very fine mixture that subtly enhances the taste of the food you're cooking... I don't think it is something very typically available in Germany, rather sold in specialty stores. As an alternative I would suggest a very mild curry mixture and some garlic powder.
